The Action Plan for the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Mediterranean Sea was adopted by the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention in 1991, with the objective of contributing to the recovery of cetacean populations in the Mediterranean Sea.
The objective of this consultancy is to evaluate and update this Action Plan, as requested by the Contracting Parties to Barcelona Convention during CoP 21 (Cairo, Egypt, 2-5 December 2025).
The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the SPA/RAC Programme Officer (Species Conservation Programme).
SPA/RAC will ensure the coherence and interlinkages between the updating of the Action Plan and the actions and expected results identified under the Post-2020 SAPBIO for 2027 and 2030.
The ACCOBAMS secretary will be consulted by the SPA/RAC to ensure the interlinkages with the ACCOBAMS Strategy and 2026–2028 Work Programme.
