SPA/RAC and MedPAN announce the opening of participation applications for the 4th Forum of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in the Mediterranean, which will take place from 15 to 17 December 2026 in Alexandria, Egypt. The Forum will bring together around 150 participants to work collectively towards accelerating progress on regional and international targets for 2030 in the Mediterranean.
A space for collective work on Mediterranean MPAs
For this edition, the Forum will adopt a fully in-person format, bringing together around 150 participants. Discussions will focus on four main themes:
- Inclusive and equitable governance
- Accelerating progress towards regional and international targets
- Effective conservation measures
- Ecosystem resilience
The Forum aims to collaboratively define a call to action, including key actions for MPAs, to accelerate the implementation of commitments related to regional targets for 2030 in the Mediterranean.

Participation is subject to validation by the organisers. Anyone wishing to attend is invited to submit an application by 23 October 2026.
Applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and selected participants will then be contacted to confirm their participation.
