The Mediterranean SPAMI Twinning Programme promotes collaboration among Special Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance (SPAMIs) through a brainstorming session, discussion sessions, on-the-job training, and peer support, between Italian SPAMIs and south/east-Mediterranean ones. This programme is financed by The Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), in the framework of a cooperation agreement between UNEP/MAP and MASE.

The objective of the consultancy is to facilitate discussion and exchanges sessions to diagnose management issues and assess the MPA conservation, in order encourage the sharing of best practices between SPAMI managers.
The beneficiary of this inititiative will be invited to take part in immersive on-the-job training experiences in partner Italian SPAMIs, enhancing their skills and knowledge. Additionally, peer support networks will foster ongoing collaboration and joint initiatives.

This programme aims to improve biodiversity conservation and promote the sustainable management of marine and coastal resource across the Mediterranean region.
