SPA/RAC is issuing a call for consultancy to hire an international expert in Non-indigenous Species (NIS) to develop a monitoring plan for NIS and an early warning system for the Port of Valencia, Spain.

The programme to be developed should align with the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme of the Mediterranean Sea (IMAP) and the Ballast Water Management Strategy for the Mediterranean. It should also integrate technology, modeling, and eDNA approaches while considering logistical and financial resources.

This initiative is being undertaken as part of the Iliad Project, which is funded by the European Union and involves 56 partners, including SPA/RAC. The project’s goal is to create a Digital Twin of the Ocean to enable accurate maritime predictions.
