In the context of the Iliad project, funded by the European Union, SPA/RAC and the ValenciaPort Foundation are currently seeking consultancy services through a two-phase call.

The first phase focuses on delivering technical and scientific expertise to create a Non-Indigenous Species (NIS) and ballast water monitoring programme, along with an early warning system for ports. This will be implemented at the Port of Sagunto, managed by the Port Authority of Valencia (Spain).

The second phase involves identifying species in the outer breakwater of the Port of Sagunto.

The programme developed during phase 1 should align with the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme of the Mediterranean Sea (IMAP), the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Strategy for the Mediterranean, and the updated harmonized procedures for the implementation of the BWM. It should also integrate technology, modeling, and eDNA approaches while considering logistical and financial constraints.
