Within the framework of the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme of the Mediterranean Sea and Coast and Related Assessment Criteria (IMAP), SPA/RAC is launching a call for consultancy to engage a national expert on marine litter monitoring and management in Libya.
The objective of this consultancy is to ensure the technical coordination of marine litter monitoring and management activities in Libya, including the supervision of selected NGOs, data compilation, quality control, analysis, and the preparation of national deliverables related to IMAP Common Indicators CI22 (Adopt-a-Beach) and CI23 (Fishing-for-Litter).
The selected national expert will:
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to NGOs implementing marine litter monitoring activities.
- Compile, validate and analyze collected data in line with UNEP/MAP IMAP standards.
- Conduct assessments against Baseline Values (BV) and Threshold Values (TV).
- Develop draft management plans for beach marine litter and Fishing-for-Litter activities in ports.
- Contribute to national reporting and ensure coordination with the Ministry of Environment and SPA/RAC.
This initiative is supported by the Marine Litter MED Plus project funded by the European Union.
