Within the framework of the SEMPA project, funded by the European Union, SPA/RAC has launched a call for consultancy for the development of a management plan for the coastal and marine area of Bsis Island, Libya.
The assignment aims to:
- synthesize the existing data and studies related to the site;
- update the ecological and socio-economic assessments to reflect recent developments;
- prepare a management plan including measures for protection, valorisation and sustainable development;
- consult local stakeholders to support the participatory management of the future marine protected area;
- identify partnership and stakeholder participation mechanisms for the site’s future management.
The study area covers the coastal and marine parts of Bsis Island, as defined in previous studies carried out in close collaboration with the Libyan Ministry of Environment.
