FishEBM MED Steering Committee meets in Montenegro to advance project implementation

The FishEBM MED Project Steering Committee (PSC) convened on 24–25 February 2026 in Bar, bringing together partner countries (Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro and Tunisia) and implementing agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the UNEP Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP), the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and SPA/RAC.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review project implementation progress and align on priorities for the upcoming phase.

Main outcomes

Participants reviewed the progress achieved to date, validated the work plan and budget for the coming year, and discussed the recommendations of the Mid-Term Review (MTR).

Key decisions included:

  • Approval of a six-month no-cost extension of the project, now running until June 2027
  • Endorsement of the updated work plan integrating MTR recommendations
  • Validation of the revised project results framework

Looking ahead

The next phase will focus on accelerating implementation and strengthening impact at the national level, ensuring that project actions translate into tangible results for Mediterranean marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
