Within the framework of the FishEBM MED project, and more specifically the implementation of NAP+ pilot actions in Tunisia, SPA/RAC is launching a call for expressions of interest for civil society organizations to carry out the ecological monitoring, promotion and community ownership activities associated with the ecological restoration pilot action in the future marine and coastal protected area of the northern islets of Kerkennah.
The requested tasks are as follows:
- Develop and implement an ecological monitoring protocol to assess the effects of artificial reef deployment on marine habitats and fishery resources;
- Conduct ecological monitoring of the deployment sites and collect, analyse, interpret and consolidate the resulting data;
- Design and implement activities to promote the results of the pilot action and raise awareness among the various target audiences;
- Propose and implement initiatives that foster the long-term involvement of local communities, particularly small-scale fishing stakeholders, in marine conservation, ecological monitoring and the sustainable use and promotion of marine resources;
- Develop innovative tools, approaches or mechanisms that contribute to local ownership of the pilot action and the dissemination of its results;
Document the activities carried out, results achieved, lessons learned and good practices identified in order to inform the work of the FishEBM MED project and facilitate the replication of this approach.
